They really are very good. I’ve now done a couple of rides on Zwift, and I’m finding it to be a good workout. As you say, a gradient of 7% is likely to be more than adequate in reality. Next thing I need to buy is a fan! 😅

@Jonny_Justice yeah I got AC and a big fan. Also I peg a tea towel to the top of my handbars and then the end to my top tube stop all the sweat corroding my bike. Oh other thing is the power from the unit is not very accurate so I use my crank power meter to hook up to rouvy and not the nero one. Found the nero power was way too generous on watts (I wish I was that strong!)

Do you think this trainer is too noisy for an apartment top floor?

@@kkmurdendifficult to say really, as I imagine that would depend on the sound proofing between floors. But they aren’t silent by any means!

Hi Jarrad, I had a L4/5 spinal fusion and my back/hips/neck are regularly in pain, plus it creates weakness as I don’t have the same strength. Plan next year to begin gym and do specific strengthening exercises, to see if it helps. Thanks for the message bro 😎🤜🏼

Discovered my main issue was a rotated pelvis (aside from the spinal fusion), putting pressure on various nerves/joints etc. much better now 👊🏼

@@Thru-The-Lens yeah they used a ridiculously stiff rear spring in the 140i. eibach pro lowering springs is the first thing most ppl do (or coilovers if you want to spend the $$).

Jonny Justice the car is very twitchy in the wet and badly needs a diff. Will get one in the future but right now my house needs bits. Love the noise and urgency it has over my mapped S1

Light scratches and marks seem to buff out pretty easily with the usual T-Cut of polish. But it does attract dust and it’s difficult to keep it shiny for long in our delightful UK weather!

I’m really thinking of doing the same but from a regular tt 2.0 mk3. Do you regret changing to the m140i?

I've got the m240i. Things I miss on the tt. Interior generation ahead. 4wd grip. Looks. Suspension as stock. M240i. Sounds way way way better. Weirdly I get more looks than the tt did. (I do have spoiler and m caps and bits ). The BMW I drive is way better. Seats are better in m240i. Its a hard choice. The grip is the 1 thing I miss most. But that can be said for any quattro car.

mirin jawbro thank you so much for the reply! I was debating either a m140i or m240i but it’s so hard to choose if yo swap because of the same reasons you said. Ideal car would be the TT but with the BMW engine

TT RS would be ideal, unfortunately just way out my price range. TTS is an option but it’s going to be very similar to the standard TT I’m assuming as it’s the same engine and much the same underneath

I got a bit too used to the power, so went for a sports cat (Wagner 200 cell) remap and xHP3 ZF8 software, and it's plenty fast enough now for 99% of any situation at 455bhp/634nm. It could not be a better daily, comfortable and smooth when I need it to be, but absolutely wild when I want it to.

@@Thru-The-Lens Hey JJ, I got myself a late 2016 OG M2 now. It's standard, so a bit slower in a straight line than the M140i, but in every other way, wow. It is on another level man. The M140i, no matter how many mods I did, just felt like it was always going to be just a 118i m sport chassis. The rear tyres couldn't decide what each was doing under acceleration, it had that wiggle, the damping was like a pogo, and the steering was numb. The OG M2, completely different. Steering is so much better, damping is so settled, cornering is unreal, chassis dynamics are completely different and in a much better way. It's raw and alive. Every journey is like a special event.

Adam Dar you get a choice when new of RF’s or sports tyres. I went for the latter as I despise the ride with the former. The M140i is, without doubt, skittish by nature; the Golf R is massively planted in contrast. Good luck with whatever you buy 😁👍🏼

@@Thru-The-Lens Tell me about it.. I was in Sport and auto behind him at lights. I dont think he stsrted gunning straight away as i was about half throttle to about 25 then we both pinned it and i ciuldnt gain on him. If he's had it mapped to 310 though it'd make sense

Lee Lifeson I’ve had the same experience this last week, with colder and greasy roads, traction is slightly more challenging. Tyre pressures need to be spot on. Glad you’re enjoying the engine 😎👍🏼

Juggerslaught the fact it’s brand new I guess has a bearing too, all my previous cars were typically low mileage but never new. Nothing has put a smile on my face or given me the same enjoyment as the M140i recently (except my wife) 😂

Patrick morris I find the looks of the M140i absolutely perfect. Doesn’t have the shouty elements of other hot hatches in this category, ie big spoilers or aggressive bumper grills etc, it’s actually quite understated in a menacing way 😁

Got my 68 reg shadow today, same issue. I'll learn to live with it as I think the ZF is far better suited to this car than a twin clutch...

SOMNIOX the Impreza was loud, brash and a total animal, the M140i has a refinement with a wild edge, I like that!

Ash no, I thought the M140i had a proximity sensor like the Golf R does. The cruise control braking function is pretty neat though.

Ash yes the Golf has one above the lower front spoiler which automatically activated the brakes if it senses you’re approaching something too quickly.
